As a central member of the p:ear team, the Kitchen Coordinator will work collaboratively with leadership and program staff to offer 2 healthy, nutritious meals per day. p:ear’s food program is the hub for shared meals that provide homeless young people with the opportunity to create and share food with other students, staff and volunteers and instills a sense of belonging while providing an experience for them to know they are cared for, appreciated, and worthy of being nurtured.

p:ear Bike Works is looking for a dynamic individual to manage, grow and help develop our social purpose enterprise community bike shop. In partnership with the Rosewood Initiative, p:ear Bike Works will help support Portland’s Eastside communities, providing low cost, low barrier access to bike education, repair and sales of refurbished bicycles and parts. Our shop is located within the Rosewood Initiative building at 16126 SE Stark St.
p:ear seeks board members who are dedicated to the mission of the organization, and who will actively participate in providing expertise, skills and financial support to ensure the growth and sustainability of p:ear.

On Thursday, October 19th, p:ear joins NW Noggin in hosting “Homelessness & the Brain,” an event designed to raise awareness and understanding of the critical link between affordable housing and brain health.

It’s been a year since the p:ear coffee window opened for business! Thank you to everyone who came out for free drinks and the latte art competition on September 15th. Plus the Owen Jones-designed parklet perfectly captured the 90’s nostalgia for “Friends” and Central Perk.

On July 11th the p:ear art program got the chance to spend the day in Seattle. This trip started with youth and staff meeting at p:ear at 7:30 am, loading a north bound Amtrak train and getting back to p:ear at 10:45pm.
Senator Jeff Merkley awarded p:ear directors Beth, Pippa and Joy the 2017 award for p:ear’s work in “making the world a better place.”
p:ear won a $10,000 IKEA makeover to help improve Safe Space, the p:ear kitchen and pantry, and provide much-needed items for youth moving into housing. With some help from IKEA Portland employees and volunteers, p:ear put together brand new tables, chairs, and shelves!
